Experience the 600-year tradition of Ottoman calligraphy. Master Nurgül, one of Istanbul's most respected calligraphers, will teach you the fundamentals of writing with reed pen and ink. The workshop begins with the history of calligraphy in Islamic civilization. Then you'll learn reed pen cutting, ink preparation, and basic strokes. Discover the differences between Sülüs and Nesih styles. Learn to write your name or a chosen word in Arabic script. The philosophy behind each stroke, breath control, and the importance of concentration. Take home your own calligraphy on special paper. In the historic madrasa atmosphere of Fatih, you'll have touched a timeless art.
